Stereochemistry is the field of organic chemistry that aims to understand the relative spatial arrangement of atoms that form the structure of molecules. Stereochemistry aims to deduce the 3-D structure of an atom. Most of the compounds studied in stereochemistry are isomers.
Light is an electromagnetic wave and thus has energy that interacts with molecules when photons hit. Electromagnetic waves as discussed in physics are waves that contain both magnetic and electrical fields which are positioned perpendicularly from each other and also the direction of propagation. Normal light has electromagnetic fields that radiate in a 360° spherical field that is positioned perpendicularly to the direction of propagation. However this is not the case with polarized light.
